Is In-Home Senior Care in Mississippi and Louisiana Affordable?
Both Louisiana and Mississippi offer supplemental support and services to eligible individuals who qualify for nursing home long-term care, but choose to remain in your own home and community. These services, called Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waivers, are administered by the Mississippi Department of Health and Hospital (MSDH), as well as the Bureau of Community Supports and Services (BCSS) and respective departments in Louisiana.
The services provide financial coverage for you to use the services of an in-home senior care agency like Faith and Hope. You’ll experience higher quality of life, maintain your social interactions and independent living, while also receiving the individualized medical care you deserve. We also provide assistance with daily tasks to ensure you are living a full and healthy life while you age in the comfort of your own home.
Faith and Hope accepts various waiver programs to ensure that your care remains affordable and available. Our services and waiver programs include those who meet medicaid eligibility (but are not limited to):
- New Opportunities Waiver (NOW)
- Elderly Disabled Adult Waiver (EDA)

Who Qualifies for Faith and Hope In-Home Senior Care?
Faith and Hope strives to meet the needs of the most individuals possible, providing individualized senior in-home care affordably and compassionately. We provide independently-funded services to elders in our community and we also meet the needs of those who require more affordable care. If you currently receive Medicare and meet all of the following criteria, you can qualify for low-cost or free in-home long-term care from Faith and Hope.
- Meet nursing facility level of care
- At minimum require limited assistance with one or more daily living activities
- Are able to direct your care independently through a responsible representative
- Are in a nursing facility and can be discharged if community-based services are available
- Are likely to require nursing facility admission within the next 120 days
- Have a primary caregiver who has a disability or who is at least 70 years old
In-Home Senior Care Providers for Medicaid & Veteran Affair Recipients
If you are a Medicaid recipient of targeted or waiver case, you have the freedom to choose your providers. Your choice of case management or waiver service(s) providers does not affect your eligibility for the waiver or case management services. If you are a recipient of Medicaid Case Management Services, you may report any problems with your case management services or waiver services to the Bureau of Community Supports and Services help line manager.
What if you already live in a nursing home or are a military veteran? We’re glad you asked because we have a solution for that too! If you already live in a nursing home but would like to receive HCBS waiver services in your home community based setting, you may meet HCBS Waiver Service criteria requirements. You will need to meet specific age, disability, and nursing facility level of care requirements, as well as meet MEDICAID or VA financial eligibility requirements in order to qualify.
